How much can be saved?

When the DCS education program is combined with a technical retrofit, savings can be significant. In the past, school divisions in a combined technical/ educational approach have achieved savings of:

Electrical consumption (kWh)

19.00%

Electrical demand (kW)

14.25%

Natural Gas consumption (GJ)

5.75%

Water (m3)

10.00%

These are the average savings achieved through the Savings Re-investment Approach. Savings for SaskPower Energy Solutions program may be even higher.
It is generally accepted that between 5 and 15% of energy savings is directly affected by lifestyle rather than technical changes. These types of changes are supported by DCS.

Since 1993, DCS has helped hundreds of Saskatchewan schools to save energy, conserve water, and reduce waste, for example:

  • Money Saved
  • Energy Saved
  • Waste Reduced
  • CO2 Emissions Avoided
