- A Critical Analysis of Agrivision's Report on Dams: This report is a detailed critique of the arguments for dams in Saskatchewan, outlined in Agrivision's report "Water Wealth: A Fifty Year Water Development Plan for Saskatchewan". The analysis refutes the alleged need for massive interventions in the provinces hydrology—the need to build dams, divert rivers, and transfer water between watersheds. The SES believes that far superior alternatives exist, alternatives that deliver larger benefits, faster, more affordably, to more citizens, and with greater care to the environment.
- Prairie Water Directive (PDF): The Prairie Water Directive is a set of policy recommendations aimed at decision-makers across the three prairie provinces. The Directive was put together with input from citizen groups, NGO's, communities and stakeholder groups and deals with issues surrounding water security. The Directive is a collective vision and call to action, and gains strength from continued support from other organizations. Please consider signing your organizations name to this exciting movement.
- Industrial Water Use Report (PDF): The Saskatchewan Environmental Society recently commissioned a report on Industrial Water Use in Saskatchewan. The report explores quantities of water used for various industrial uses, assessed for each of the major watersheds in Saskatchewan. The report recommends that water usage reporting be mandatory for all industrial water users, and that a detailed study of in-stream flow needs be conducted for all major waterways in the province, in order to establish ecological limits on withdrawls. The SES endeavours to work with policy makers towards undertaking these vital steps towards better water management in Saskatchewan.
