The Saskatchewan Environment Society is proud to bring you Canada’s new national Vehicle Recycling Program called “Retire Your Ride” in collaboration with the Clean Air Foundation and the Government of Canada.
Retire Your Ride will improve Saskatchewan’s environment by rewarding participants that have their 1995 and older vehicles voluntarily retired and responsibly recycled through the program.
Retire Your Ride is an easy way to do your part for the environment and get rewarded for it.
The facts:
- 1995 and older vehicles emit 19 times more smog-forming emissions than 2004 and newer vehicles.
- New emissions and fuel efficient technology was introduced to 2004 and newer models to meet more stringent emission guidelines.
- Each car sent to Retire Your Ride translates into a reduction of 54 kg of pollution.
- All vehicles that are sent to Retire Your Ride are recycled in the most environmentally-responsible way possible.
- The recyclers affiliated with Retire Your Ride have all been trained by the program and follow a stringent and mandatory Code of Practice created by the Automotive Recyclers of Canada and the Government of Canada.
Rewards:
Retire Your Ride participants receive a reward if their vehicle is eligible
Local rewards at this time include 5 options:
Option A $1000 worth of travel vouchers with Saskatchewan Transportation Company

Option C 6 monthly transit passes with City of Saskatoon Transit (value $408)
Option D $300 cash
NEW-Option E Up to $1,500 off selected Chrysler Canada models plus $300 Cash. A total reward worth $1,800 (Chrysler incentive expires January 4, 2010).
Who is Eligible?
- Must have a 1995 or older model vehicle that is in running condition.
- The vehicle must be registered in Canada and insured with the current owner for the last 6 months.
How it Works
- People with 1995 or older model vehicles, who are eligible, can voluntarily retire their vehicle through this program. To enrol in the program go to www.retireyourride.ca and click ‘Retire Now’. At this point, the participants will need to provide their name, address, email or phone number and the VIN number of their vehicle.
- If you want to view the rewards without going through the application process click on the REWARDS tab and choose SASKATCHEWAN.
- If you would prefer to give information over the phone simply call
1-877-773-1996 and a representative in Saskatchewan will take your call.
- Once the participant’s application has been approved, an accredited recycler will be contacted and the recycling process will begin.
- When the recycler has confirmed that the car has been picked up, the participant will be sent the reward of their choice.
All applications will now be redirected to the Retire Your Ride website
